The number of new prescription transactions for a drug during a defined period, excluding refills but commonly including prescription renewals.
Definition
NRx, or new prescriptions, counts prescriptions classified as new rather than refill transactions. IQVIA notes that NRx excludes refills but includes renewals issued after a patient has exhausted authorized refills.
